Profile

Professor Gerrit De Geest is a nationally and internationally known expert in law and economics as well as comparative law. Prior to serving as director of the Center on Law, Innovation & Economic Growth at Washington University Law, he was a professor of law and economics at Utrecht University in the Netherlands.

Professor De Geest has authored numerous books and articles in his areas of expertise, and he lectures extensively on law and economics, tort law damages, and contracts at workshops and conferences, both national and international. In addition to his scholarship, he is series editor of the Encyclopedia of Law and Economics, Second Edition; book series co-editor of New Horizons in Law and Economics; and consulting editor of the European Review of Contract Law. Among his professional affiliations, Professor De Geest is an advisory board member and past president of the European Association of Law and Economics.
