Profile

Professor Stephen Haller is a Senior Counsel with the Office of Chief Counsel, IRS. Since joining the office in 2004, Prof. Haller has represented the Internal Revenue Service in U.S. Tax Court, litigating cases involving individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts and estates. He has been an active advisor to the IRS’s promoter and preparer abusive transactions organization and its agents, assisting the agency in stopping abusive tax schemes and tax return preparers. Prof. Haller also has an expertise in tax collection matters, advising revenue officers and the Department of Justice, Tax Division, on complex tax collection issues and suits. Finally, Prof. Haller is dedicated to teaching both in his organization and as an adjunct at Washington University School of Law.

Professor Haller teaches Federal Tax Procedure, Contracts, Business Associations, Health Law, Tax Supervised Research, Tax Legal Externships, & General Supervised Research.
