What attracted you to @WashULaw?

The Washington University School of Law is consistently recognized as one of the top law schools in the country. Having grown up in the region, I’ve always been aware of Washington University.

What career or personal goals motivated you to pursue a deeper understanding of the law?

“I considered a law career early on but ultimately chose to follow a technology path instead. Since founding a technology consulting firm 15 years ago, however, I have discovered that legal questions often arise. The MLS program is giving me additional tools to manage my business.”

How do online classes benefit your lifestyle?

I’m a single mother to a teenager and run a business with 100 employees; to say time is tight is an understatement. Online classes allow me to do the bulk of my coursework when timing works for me.

What is it like to participate in a law program in an online setting?

The online setting allows classes to be taught in a global classroom. I’ve had classes with people across the country and around the world, which brings a much broader perspective to the coursework. In a discussion about trial procedure, for example, a classmate shared how it differed in South Africa.

What is your favorite class?

I think my favorite, so far, has been Intro to the U.S. Legal System — it provided an overview of so many aspects of the field of law. It was also the smallest class I’ve been in (six people, I think), which made for some very interesting conversations.
